G20 Energy Regulators Roundtable
Kazan, Russia, 3-4 June 2013

CEER participated in the G20 Energy Regulators Roundtable, held in Kazan, Russia on 3-4 June. The outcome of this G20+ Regulators Roundtable is a short Energy Regulators Statement on Sound Regulation and Promoting Investments in Energy Infrastructure.

The Statement recognises the major need for investments which are in the public interest, and the central role that energy regulators play in ensuring that efficient investments take place. By way of this statement, energy regulators agree it is important to:
(a)        ensure the independence of national regulatory authorities
(b)        support the efficient development of infrastructure needed for sustainable development
(c)        improve energy market functioning
(d)        protect public and consumers interests
(e)        advance NRA development
(f)         establish effective interaction among relevant authorities

This regulatory roundtable was organised in the framework of the forthcoming G20 Summit to be held in St. Peterburg on 5-6 September 2013.
