April 2022 Newsletter

This month’s CEER Newsletter focuses on our activities as an implementing partner of the European Commission’s EU4Energy programme and CEER’s views on elements of the proposed Hydrogen and Decarbonised Gas Market legislative package (see the first feature). As we enjoy nicer spring weather here in Brussels, let us not forget that the Ukrainian people continue to experience a terrible invasion. CEER stands with Ukraine.

Features

Strong focus by regulators on Gas Storage and Security of Supply

Europe’s energy regulators have been working hard to respond to urgent proposals that the European Commission has been putting on the table in response to Russia's mounting threats to European energy supplies. CEER together with its members and partners has provided feedback to four European legislative documents and a strategy to bolster the Union’s security of gas supply and fill EU gas storage facilities more effectively. Furthermore, ACER and CEER are organising a joint webinar on 17 May to discuss our analyses on these topics.

EU4Energy Launch Energy Efficiency Campaign for Children

Ozzy the Hamster is one of the main characters of a new comic book entitled “Light Bulb” and is at the center of a campaign by EU4Energy in collaboration with EU Neighbours East for children in five Eastern European countries. The comic book focuses on increasing the younger generations’ understanding of energy efficiency and energy-saving measures as well as of the negative impact wasting energy has on nature and the environment. The campaign runs from 28 April to 8 May, engaging school children via different social media platforms and through school activities.
