COURSE ORGANISATION

With all the Electricity Network Codes and Guidelines adopted, energy regulators have to deal with the challenges related to their implementation in order to meet the deadlines for a quick and efficient harmonisation of the European Electricity Markets.

Level B: Specialised Course

Experts from National Regulatory Authorities (NRAs) with general background or previous experience in Electricity Network Codes and Guidelines who would like to improve or update their knowledge and expertise in order to succeed with the continuing and emerging challenges of the implementation phase. Other experts from European Institutions (ACER, European Commission) are also invited to attend. 

Programme overview: 

  • Review the EU regulatory and governance framework of Electricity Network Codes and Guidelines.  

 • Examine the challenges for regulators in delivering the progress, as those related to the development and approval of Terms & Conditions or Methodologies.
 • Explore the processes, obstacles, best practices, cases studies and lessons learned from the on-going implementation phase of the Network Codes and Guidelines, with particular reference to Connection Network Codes, Electricity Balancing Guideline, System Operation Guideline, Forward Capacity Allocation Guideline and Capacity Allocation and Congestion Management Guideline. 
  • Discover the history, services, governance and expected developments of Regional Security Coordinators, with a complementary visit to CORESO, a historical Regional Security Coordinator in Brussels. 
 

Class lessons will count on an exclusive and balanced combination of lecturers - whose daily activities focus on Network Codes and Guidelines implementation - in order to train participants at best. A visit to CORESO, a historical Regional Security Coordinator in Brussels, will complement the programme.
