CEER publishes Case Studies on Implementing Technology that Benefits Consumers in the Clean Energy for All Europeans package

Second in the series of CEER reports related to the customer issues in the recast Electricity Directive, today, CEER publishes a collection of case studies on Implementing Technology that Benefits Consumers in the Clean Energy for All Europeans package

Taking into account the next steps needed to prepare national transposition and a clear understanding of new concepts and obligations in the recast Electricity Directive, this CEER report describes case studies from different Member States on three topics:

Lessons learnt relating to on demand smart meter roll-outs
Dynamic price contracts
Data exchange and interoperability

CEER has collected two case studies to illustrate the lessons learnt regarding the implementation of a system for smart meter installations on a customer request basis in Ireland and Norway. Three case studies are also presented that describe the introduction of dynamic price contracts in Spain, Sweden and Norway. Furthermore, other three case studies illustrate different types of data management approaches in Austria, the Czech Republic and Denmark, all, in line with the goals of the recast Electricity Directive.

Following CEER’s recent report/case studies on energy communities and self-consumption and with an upcoming report/case studies on consumer empowerment issues, CEER hopes that this series of reports will contribute to a heightened awareness and understanding of the new provisions adopted in the Directive, with a view to facilitating their implementation and application by National Regulatory Authorities (NRAs), policy-makers, market actors and consumers.
