CEER and BEUC, The European Consumer Organisation, presented their vision of an energy sector which puts customers first at the 2012 Citizens’ Energy Forum (13-14 November).

10 EU energy sector organisations support (have endorsed) it.  For more on the CEER-BEUC vision, and CEER's Action Plan to implement it, see the Feature below.

CEER also published a Benchmarking report on meter data management, a Status Review which examines whether consumer rights are in place nationally, and a new Customer brochure.

Check out the new customer section of our website. It has interactive tools that show how electricity, gas and smart grids work (it’s really cool for schools!), a map of your national customer contacts, information on your customer rights and much more.

Watch out (29 Nov) for the CEER-ACER Market Monitoring Report which is very much in line with the EC's Internal Energy Market Communication.

Save the date (29 Jan.) for CEER's 2013 Conference.

EU regulators and EU consumer organisation set out steps
for a ‘customer first’ energy policy vision

Following a CEER customer event and public consultation earlier this year, CEER and BEUC, The European Consumer Organisation, presented their joint 2020 Vision for energy customers at the 2012 London Forum.

What’s in the Vision?
The Vision promotes 4 principles: reliability; affordability; simplicity; and protection and empowerment.

Making the Vision a Reality
CEER sees focusing on a 2020 Vision as a valuable means for all actors to work together towards a common “Customer First” goal.

The vision statement gained the support of the London Forum (and appears as an annex to the London Forum conclusions). 10 EU energy sector organisations, including energy ombudsmen and the gas and electricity industry associations, have endorsed it.

The London Forum invited  market actors to take concrete actions to make the vision a reality. Going forward, the London Forum will be used to monitor progress towards this vision. Leading by example, CEER presented a rolling 3-year Action Plan of what CEER will do to help make the vision a reality.
