CEER Customer Conference 2024 Highlights Consumer-Centric Energy Transition
On 11 April, we welcomed around 250 participants both onsite and online to the CEER Customer Conference 2024. The conference was held under the theme “From Aspiration to Implementation: Delivering an Energy System Fit For All Consumers.” The discussions focused on identifying best ways to implement new EU frameworks to ensure a positive impact on consumers.
 
CEER President Annegret Groebel emphasised the vital role of European energy regulators in ensuring that new laws benefit consumers at the national level. She stressed the importance of adhering to the core principles outlined in the CEER-BEUC 2030 Vision for Energy Consumers as society and the economy shift towards decarbonisation and sustainability.
 
Baiba Miltoviča, President of the Section for Transport, Energy, Infrastructure and the Information Society (TEN) of the European Economic and Social Committee stressed the importance of energy as a public service, advocating for environmentally friendly, affordable, and reliable energy access. She emphasised championing collective energy self-consumption initiatives for a people-centred green transition.

CEER Reveals Findings on LNG Terminal Impact at 38th European Gas Regulatory Forum
On 26 April at the 38th European Gas Regulatory Forum in Madrid, Spain, Agustín Alonso presented CEER’s publication on “The Influence of New LNG Terminals on the Future EU Energy Market”. CEER responded to the 2023 Madrid Forum's call to action by releasing the report on 16 February 2024. This report delves into the significant increase of LNG imports and its impacts on the existing regulatory framework. 

The European Gas Regulatory Forum, also known as the Madrid Forum, gathers key stakeholders across the European energy sector to discuss opportunities and challenges related to the further development and decarbonisation of the internal EU gas market and to its integration with other energy sectors.
 
EU4Energy
High-Level Conference Promotes Sustainable Heating and Energy Efficiency in Eastern Partnership Countries
In the framework of EU4Energy, the High-Level Conference on Sustainable Heating and Energy Efficiency in the Eastern Partnership took place on 15 and 16 April. CEER and the Elizbar Eristavi Energy Training Center (ENTC) of the Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission (GNERC) organised this important event, bringing together experts from the energy sector in Eastern Partnership countries in Tbilisi, Georgia. 
 
Over the two days, participants engaged in informative discussions, practical workshops, and helpful sessions and shared knowledge. Topics included creating policies, updating systems, incorporating renewable energy, and addressing climate change to make heating more sustainable and energy use more efficient.
 
In her welcoming remarks, CEER Secretary General Māra Bērziņa emphasised CEER's steadfast support for the European Commission's heating and cooling strategy. She underscored the shared goal of advancing energy efficiency, decarbonisation, and the integration of renewable energy sources across Europe. She highlighted the crucial role of collaboration between CEER and the European Commission in driving forward these essential initiatives for a greener, more sustainable future.

Factsheets Developed Under EU4Energy 2023
15 April 2024

Factsheets on energy sector developments in the Eastern Partnership (EaP) in countries in 2023 are now available. These documents, prepared by CEER on behalf of the EU4Energy programme, showcase the progress and milestones achieved in the energy sector transformation since the programme's launch in Azerbaijan, Moldova, Ukraine, Georgia and Armenia.

15-17 May 2024

Join CEER at the ERRA 21st Annual Conference – in 2024 called the Energy Regulators Forum (ERF) – from 15-17 May 2024 in Bangkok, Thailand. The event will be hosted and supported by the Energy Regulatory Commission. CEER secretariat, Nazim Khiari will speak about anticipatory investments in the session on "Impact of Clean Energy Sources on the Grids and System Stability".

Power Summit 2024 will be discussing the challenges we face and the opportunities there are to keep the lights on. As electrification accelerates, the grid that delivers it needs to be expanded and digitalised. CEER Secretary General, Māra Bērziņa will contribute to the discussions.
 
European Sustainable Energy Week 2024
11-13 June 2024

EUSEW2024 is held under the theme "Net-zero energy solutions for a competitive Europe". CEER Distribution Systems Chair, Veli-Pekka Saajo is foreseen to participate in the session on "What about flexibility? How customers can improve power systems". Take a look at the

CEER Training on Introduction to Energy Regulation Module I & II Wrap up
From 16-19 April, the CEER Training Academy welcomed 27 participants from 10 different countries along with 16 speakers from EU institutions, NRAs, industry and academia. The training focused on explaining the fundamentals of EU energy policy and regulation, building on similar successful courses held in previous years. It comprehensively explained the key aspects of EU electricity and gas regulation, including the latest developments, theories, and practices across the energy cost chain, from wholesale markets to networks and retail issues. We would like to take this opportunity to thanks all participants and speakers for their invaluable contributions to the training and for organising such a dynamic and thought-provoking programme.
