Last year, we explored Electricity Market Design (EMD) before it even became a proposal. This year, we’re taking it a step further by exploring long-term challenges that go beyond the EMD reform proposal.

High-level speakers from energy regulators, European institutions, industry associations, consumer organisations, and others will be joining the discussions on the latest advancements, challenges, and opportunities in the developing decarbonised and low-carbon gas markets.

15th Citizens' Energy (Dublin) Forum
On Thursday 9 November, the 15th Citizens' Energy Forum took place in Dublin. The focus of this year's agenda was middle and low income consumers and on solutions that they can access or put in place. CEER President Annegret Groebel was a panelist for the Plenary Session on "Empowering consumers to help manage their energy bills". She highlighted the role regulators play in building trust and providing clear information to consumers. She stressed that empowering consumers during the energy transition is vital, while emergency measures should be temporary.
CEER at DSO Entity's Annual Event 2023
On 17 November, Chair of the CEER Distribution Systems Working Group, Veli-Pekka Saajo highlighted the important role tariffs will play in finding new solutions to connect increasing renewable energy sources in the grid. Mr Saajo highlighted that "the key element of all challenges of the clean energy transition, especially in light of the energy crisis and war in Ukraine, is to ensure that this is achieved affordably".
CEER at Reuters event
On 13 November, CEER Communications/Policy Manager Alba Glass moderated the panel “Redefining the European Transition: Geopolitics, Risk, and a Green Energy Mix” with OMV Petrom CEO, Christina Verchere, and MEP Nicolás González Casares. Discussions focused on the integration of renewables into the grid, preparing consumers for price shocks, advancements in infrastructure manufacturing, and improving energy efficiency.
EU4Energy
Launch of stage II of renewable energy campaign for schoolchildren
In the framework of the EU4Energy programme, CEER along with EU Neighbours East and the Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission (GNERC), launched Stage II of its campaign to educate children about renewable energy. CEER organised workshops in two schools in Bolnisi and Gori, Georgia. Activities involved the distribution of Ozzy the Hamster comic books while experts from GNERC delivered presentations on the significance of renewable energy. Students were shown how to assemble wind turbines provided by the Young European Ambassadors.
