CEER Webinar on NRA Oversight on Electricity Transmission Grid Development and Investment
On 2 March 2026, CEER hosted a webinar to present its report on NRA Oversight on Electricity Transmission Grid Development and Investment, which examines how National Regulatory Authorities (NRAs) assess, approve and monitor electricity transmission grid investments across Europe.
The report highlights the significant diversity of national approaches to grid planning oversight, identifies key challenges such as resource constraints and information asymmetries between regulators and transmission system operators and points to gaps in cost transparency and implementation monitoring.
The webinar provided stakeholders with insights into how current regulatory frameworks support – or hinder – efficient, transparent, and timely grid investments needed for the energy transition. It also connected CEER’s findings with ongoing EU policy discussions on grid expansion, investment incentives, regulatory powers and the role of NRAs in delivering Europe’s energy and climate objectives.
