CEER-DSO Entity Webinar: Smart Grid Indicators for Distribution System Operators
Join us online on 10 September 2026, from 14:00 to 15:30 CEST, for the “Smart grid indicators for distribution system operators” webinar hosted by DSO Entity and CEER.
Europe's distribution grids are evolving rapidly, with smart technologies supporting the efficient operation of system-operated networks. However, significant diversity exists among Distribution System Operators (DSOs) across national regulatory frameworks and geographies, meaning a one-size-fits-all approach cannot be applied.
This webinar brings together Distribution System Operators, regulators, policymakers and energy sector organisations for a focused dialogue on the development and implementation of smart grid performance indicators. It will explore how national characteristics shape the way DSOs operate their grids, while examining how a pan-European approach can be tailored to specific national contexts.
Objectives
- Provide insights into the framework for defining smart grid indicators, building on existing work on key dimensions, notably from CEER, and exploring their correlations with grid functionalities as well as measurable indicators.
- Present ongoing work on smart grid indicators to relevant stakeholders and gather feedback on practical applicability.
- Facilitate a common understanding of how smart grid indicators can support future grid performance.
- Reflect on the conclusions of the 2025 Infrastructure Forum and their implications for the development and use of smart grid indicators across Europe, encouraging consideration of how common frameworks can be translated into country-specific regulatory practices.
This session builds on CEER's recent work in this area; read the CEER Paper on Electricity "Smart Grid" Performance Indicators for background.
