Driving Renewable Integration: CEER and Energy Community Secretariat Host Regional Workshop on New Roles of DSOs under the Clean Energy Package
The Council of European Energy Regulators (CEER) and the Energy Community Secretariat (EnCS) hosted a two-day Regional Workshop on the New Roles of Distribution System Operators (DSOs) under the Clean Energy Package on 9-10 April, 2025, in Moldova. This regional event is part of the EU4Energy Programme on Promoting the Clean Energy Transition in the Eastern Partnership Countries.
Building on the success of the first regional workshop on the same topic and based on the growing importance of enhancing the regulatory framework and capacity of DSOs in the Eastern Partnership (EaP) region, this is the second one organised by CEER and EnCS around the topic. The workshop brought together representatives from national regulatory authorities and DSOs from the Eastern Partnership Countries.
The primary goal of this event was to enhance the participants' understanding of distribution system operations in the context of the new design of the electricity market, with a strong emphasis on integrating renewable energy sources and accommodating new market participants in the electricity market, thereby addressing the objectives laid out in the Clean Energy Package.
The workshop featured expert presentations on best practices from the Energy Community and the European Union regarding the evolving roles of DSOs in a reformed electricity market. The participants were enabled to engage in knowledge-sharing sessions aiming to bolster their efforts in promoting sustainable energy transitions in their respective countries.
Funded by the European Union, the EU4Energy programme is a collaborative effort between the Energy Community Secretariat, the Council of European Energy Regulators, and the International Energy Agency.
