Media and Energy Regulation: Ensuring Accurate and Informed Reporting with European Union Support

The Council of European Energy Regulators (CEER) is excited to announce a two-day media seminar scheduled for 10-11 March, 2025, as part of the European Union’s EU4Energy Phase II Programme aimed at promoting the clean energy transition in the Eastern Partnership countries. This seminar is specifically designed for journalists covering energy-related topics in the Republic of Armenia and will support the Public Services Regulatory Commission of Armenia (PSRC) in enhancing its communication with the media.

This intensive seminar will equip participants with a thorough understanding of the role of the media in informing the public and fostering transparency in energy policies. Journalists will gain essential knowledge and skills to accurately report on energy regulatory issues, engaging with local and international experts to explore the key challenges Armenia’s energy sector is facing.

With over 30 participants from various media organisations, the seminar will foster collaboration between the Public Services Regulatory Commission of Armenia and the media representatives. Attendees will delve into crucial aspects of energy regulation, including market operation, tariff setting, and service quality, while also examining best practices from the EU.

Given the complexity of energy topics and their significance in daily life, this seminar will address the challenge of simplifying intricate concepts for broader understanding. This event will also emphasise the necessity of close collaboration between energy experts, policymakers, and the media to ensure effective communication.

The seminar is organised within the framework of the EU4Energy Programme Phase II – Promoting the Clean Energy Transition in the Eastern Partnership Countries, which runs until 31 August, 2025. The programme aims to contribute to the development of sound legislative and regulatory frameworks for energy, to support the region’s transition to clean energy and the liberalisation of its energy markets.

The EU4Energy initiative is funded by the European Union with a total budget of €8.5 million and is jointly implemented by CEER, the International Energy Agency (IEA) and the Energy Community Secretariat (EnCS).
