Pedro Verdelho is elected President of the Council of European Energy Regulators
The Council of European Energy Regulators (CEER) announces today the election of Pedro Verdelho as the new CEER President. His mandate will start on 1 August 2026 and run for a 2.5 year term, until January 2029. He succeeds Dr Annegret Groebel who had served as CEER President since 2019. CEER warmly thanks Dr Groebel for her leadership and dedication to the organisation over the past seven years.
Mr Verdelho is President of the Board at ERSE - Portugal's Energy Services Regulatory Authority. He currently serves as CEER Vice President and is actively engaged internationally, contributing to cooperation in the electricity, gas and renewable energy sectors.
The newly elected CEER President, Mr Verdelho, stated:
"It is a great honour to be elected President of CEER and to lead the organisation through its next chapter. Regulators are at the centre of Europe's energy transition, and CEER's role is more important than ever. We need to make the energy transition work for the consumers. I am committed to working with all Members, with inclusiveness and transparency, to keep CEER a respected and influential voice in European energy policy."
