Celebrating Achievements of the EU4Energy Project Phase II at the Final Regional Conference in Brussels
The Council of European Energy Regulators (CEER), on behalf of the European Commission’s EU4Energy Programme – “Promoting the Clean Energy Transition in the Eastern Partnership Countries” organised its Final Regional Conference on 24 June 2025 in Brussels, Belgium.
The event gathered key stakeholders from the energy sector across the Eastern Partnership Countries to reflect on the achievements and lessons learnt during the implementation of the EU4Energy Project Phase II.
The conference aimed to foster dialogue surrounding successful initiatives and milestones. Participants engaged in insightful discussions about the project’s impact on promoting the clean energy transition and facilitating regional cooperation.
In her keynote speech, CEER President Annegret Groebel delivered remarks on the role of the CEER in enhancing the energy regulatory environment, highlighting the importance of robust regulatory frameworks in promoting a sustainable energy transition, and in particular the independence of regulators for effective decision making. Furthermore, representatives of the European Commission (DG ENEST and DG ENERGY) discussed the EU's vision and actions in the Eastern Partnership countries, emphasising the EU's commitment to fostering closer ties and sustainable development in the region and towards the EU. For its part, the Energy Community Secretariat stressed the importance of continuing the support to the EnC countries in achieving their energy reform agenda and further advancing the clean energy transition under the upcoming EU4Energy Phase III.
The conference served not only as a platform for review and reflection of the project outcomes, but also as an opportunity to explore the potential for future collaboration among EU organisations, policymakers, regulators, and organisations acting in the energy sector.
The EU4Energy initiative is funded by the European Union with a total budget of €8.5 million and is jointly implemented by the CEER, the International Energy Agency (IEA) and the Energy Community Secretariat (EnCS). The programme highlights the importance of collaboration and cooperation between the EU, implementing partners and beneficiary institutions in carrying out reforms and bringing concrete benefits to citizens.
